Summer is Finally Here!!!

As you know, June 21 is the official first day of summer.  In most places, that means that it has been summer for a few months.  Not in Idaho!  This week it has finally felt like summer.  We have had a long, rainy, and on and off cold spring, but summer is here!

We decided to start off our summer with some summer adventures this weekend.  We were in Rexburg for a Construction Managment Grad Conference (3 free meals-we were all over that!). So woke Kristin up Saturday morning to go Hiking and shooting.

Kristin was the master of the climb- both up and down.  In the past we have gone up the narrow, rocky canyon and down another way.  We decided to go back down the canyon.  There are different challenges going down, but Kristin was our fearless leader.
The view from the top.

After conquering R-mountain, we went target shooting.

Then we enjoyed our free lunch at the Construction Management Conference.  Daniel conquered the rock wall.  I tried, but I wore down the last of my muscles just a little from the top.  Maybe next time.
Yup- we started summer with a bang!  We looked at our calender to plan another adventure and realized that the whole month of July is already planned for us!  Yeah for summer!

This is another great part of summer- great produce!  We participated in Bountiful Baskets this week.  If you live in Idaho, Utah, or Arizona it is a great way to get good produce for cheap!  I posted about it on my coupon blog.  Soon we will be getting produce from our garden.  :D

Our Garden- A Formal Introduction

We have been working hard in our garden all week.  After days of sore muscles, dirty clothes, and sun burn- we finally have everything planted!

This was our garden before this week.  Yup, we dug up a lot of grass!
This is us working in it.   Another neighbor works the ground next to ours that you see.

We spent several days preparing the dirt.  It took much longer than we thought to dig up the grass!

We decided to put our flower garden in front of our vegy garden.  This way the flowers get lots of sun, and we can see them looking out our window.  Above is the view out of our window.
This is the picture I took of our garden this morning.  We hope it grows!  Here is a list of what we planted:
Corn
Green Beans
Broccolli
Yellow Squash
Zucchini
Tomatoes
Peppers
Onions
Lettuce
Carrots
Flowers

My mother provided us with all of the plants.  :D  She has a green house & and starts a lot of plants early.  We are most worried about the ones we had to plant from seed.  Hopefully we have green thumbs!
