Mr. Conner Grant- Daddy's Little Boy

Conner is 9 weeks old!  I can't believe how fast the time has gone.  He is a very social and smiley baby.  We had a little photo shoot on Tuesday to document his smiley-ness.
Yup- he is adorable.  As I reviewed these pictures, I realized that they looked familiar...

This is a picture of baby Daniel Grant at about the same age.  Yup- Conner is a chunker now, but I am guessing that won't last.  :D

I Caught It!!

I finally caught his smile in a short video.  He is so cute!!  This is the smiley face I get to watch all day.
I have never uploaded a video- so I hope this works.
Yeah- he is pretty much the cutest baby ever! ( I might be a little biased)

The illusive 'Social Smile'

I read somewhere that at 6 weeks a baby is old enough to recognize his parents and actally smile at them.  This is called a social smile.  We have been getting a lot of those this past week.  He will sit and coo and laugh and smile, especially right after his diaper is changed.  It is really fun- we definately prefer his happy smiley hour to his fussy hour.

I have tried and tried to capture his smiley face, but with little to no success.  Here are a few cute snaps of the munchkin anyway.
You might be able to see his tiny mohawk.
( I almost caught it here.  This is the end of his smiley-laughing face)

My conclusion is that he is camera shy, but he is definately going to be a social little boy.

Organized or OCD?

Yesterday Daniel said he was going to cut his hair.  I went in the bathroom and found this:
His razor and all the sizes set out in order.  Most people would just open the case and cut, but not Daniel.  Yup- He might be a little OCD when it comes to organization.

6 Weeks- Our Little Chunker

Conner is already 6 weeks old!  It seams like he was just born, but at the same time it seams like he has been with us forever.
He is starting to tell all sorts of stories in his cute little baby talk.
He is growing super fast.  We measured him today- He is 22 inches long and weighs just over 11 pounds.  That is a 2 inch and almost 4 lb gain from birth!
We started using cloth diapers this week. :D Yup- they are kind of huge compared to the disposables.  They are a one size diaper- so he can use them from 8 to 35 lbs.  Eventually they will not look so bulky, but for now he has a big bottom.
Conner and I have been working on being productive at home.  I got him a carier so I can hold him and use both hands.  So far he really likes it.  It does not take long for him to fall asleep in it.
Conner is still working on the day and night thing.  The longest he has slept so far is 4 hours- not bad, but we are working towards 6 hours. :D

This is the face that convinced me to stay up at 4 a.m. this morning. Yup- We are definately keeping him.

Family Filled Weekend

I am pleased to announce that we are moved in to our new apartment and almost all the way unpacked.  Hurray!  I will post pictures of our new place soon.

Daniel is enjoying his new job.  He works at the American Falls Fish Hatchery as a Biological Aide.  He is working hard taking care of the fish and learning how fisheries operate.  This job is part of Daniel's exploration of careers in wildlife biology.

We are currently tentatively planning on going to school in northern Idaho in August when this job is done.  Daniel would be taking classes in wildlife biology and working towards a certificate that would help him in that career.  We have not totally given up on vet school- but we are not going to sit around and wait for it to happen either.  Daniel is an alternate for the upcomming class at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  That is another possibility for the fall.
Daniel's parents & Kristin came to visit this weekend for Conner's Blessing.  It was great to be able to spend some time with them.  Daniel gave them the tour of the fish hatchery & Lori got to feed the fish.  She was a natural. :D
Grandma was sure to get plenty of Conner time while she was here.
Since we just moved and do not know our ward, we chose to bless Conner in my parents ward.
Conner must have been going through a growth spurt- because he slept almost the entire weekend.  He was awake for the blessing.  He was alert and happy and did not cry.  Daniel was very grateful.
We are  so grateful for our family and there love and support.  We are very grateful that Conner is a healthy, happy child.
He is working on being just like his dad.
